π Calculate Your Daily Noise Dose
Add your noise exposures throughout the day
β Within Safe Limits
Your current exposure is within recommended daily limits. Keep it up!
Protection Makes All the Difference
Unplugs reduce exposure by 25 dBβdramatically extending your safe listening time at any volume.

This calculator uses the NIOSH recommended exposure limit (REL) formula. The daily dose is calculated as a percentage of your safe daily exposure limit.
The formula: At 85 dB, you have 8 hours of safe exposure. Every 3 dB increase halves that time. Your dose accumulates throughout the dayβmultiple exposures add up.
100% = your limit. Going over 100% means you're exposed to more noise than recommended and risk hearing damage. Under 50% is ideal.
Understanding Your Results
- 0-50% (Green): You're well within safe limits. Great job protecting your hearing!
- 50-100% (Yellow): Approaching your limit. Consider reducing exposure or using protection.
- Over 100% (Red): You've exceeded safe limits. Hearing damage may occur with repeated exposure at this level.
