Sound Exposure Calculator

Track your daily noise dose and see if you're at risk for hearing damage. Based on NIOSH safety guidelines.

⚠️ Educational Tool Only: This calculator provides estimates based on NIOSH guidelines but is not a medical assessment. Individual sensitivity varies. If you're concerned about noise exposure or hearing loss, please consult a licensed audiologist.

How This Calculator Works

This calculator uses the NIOSH recommended exposure limit (REL) formula. The daily dose is calculated as a percentage of your safe daily exposure limit.

The formula: At 85 dB, you have 8 hours of safe exposure. Every 3 dB increase halves that time. Your dose accumulates throughout the dayβ€”multiple exposures add up.

100% = your limit. Going over 100% means you're exposed to more noise than recommended and risk hearing damage. Under 50% is ideal.
